CSUN is one of the largest universities in the CSU system, and Mission Hills is one of the closer, more attainable neighborhoods to it - a practical option for university-affiliated buyers and renters-turned-owners.
The geography
Cal State Northridge sits at 18111 Nordhoff Street in Northridge, on a 356-acre campus with about 38,000 students. Mission Hills is roughly 4 miles away (straight-line; road distance is a bit longer), in the same part of the Valley, connected via the Devonshire/Nordhoff/Rinaldi corridors and the I-405 and SR-118 freeways. For a student, professor, or staff member who wants to own near campus without Northridge's pricing, Mission Hills is a reasonable, central choice.
Why Mission Hills works for CSUN buyers
Mission Hills generally prices below Northridge (Mission Hills median ~$845K, Redfin Feb 2026), offers an easy multi-route commute, and carries deep neighborhood character (the historic Mission, Brand Park).
