The Saugus Café — LA County's OLDEST restaurant, serving since 1886 by the old Saugus rail depot — quietly closed its doors on January 4, 2026, after nearly 140 years. This is the diner that fed train crews, truckers, locals, and even movie stars (yes, Clark Gable ate here).
Then, 15 days later, it came back. New owner Eduardo Reyna reopened it on January 19, 2026 — griddle's hot again.
